MUSIC

playboysPete sm2A long time ago, Pete Monfre fancied himself a guitar player and singer. He put together some like minded guys (all of whom were much better musicians than he) and started a sweet little part time job that would last almost 20 years.

The goal was not “the big time”. The goal was “the pay time” – keep the people dancing, make the register ring and drive home with a pocketful of twenties.

pete liveHe had fun, he made some money and watched girls dance but most importantly, he made a lot of drunk people happy.

Most of these recordings were originally demos or rehearsal recordings. Several are live performances.

As a fellow music lover, I hope these songs make you smile, tap your foot and chug some Southern Comfort in the great American tradition of live music, dank clubs and libations.

Song Guide:
Ain’t Nobody’s Business - (Live) – A really fun slow blues tune featuring some great sax and crowd reactions.
Blues Walk – (Live) – We always started our first set with this jumping swing tune to show off a bit.
Born in a Biscayne - (Live) – A great New Orleans powerhouse tune by my good friend and mentor, Spencer Bohren.
Cry to Me - (Studio Demo) – You can’t go wrong with Professor Longhair – this one features a 10 piece band with horns and piano.
Dreams to Remember – (Studio Demo) – Enzo’s favorite song – I used to sing it to him when he was a baby to help him sleep. Getting a little help from the Dedre Fellner Choir.
My Baby’s Lovin - (Live) – A great dance tune and one of my all time favorites.
Shakin’ the Shack - (Live) – A barn burning swing tune with fantastic sax and energy. Did I just say “fantastic sax”?
The Girl on the TV News - (Studio Demo) – A killer blues tune complete with horns by my favorite unknown Missouri band, The Belairs.
